Cooking Class: Masa & Mindfulness
In this fast-paced world filled with uncertainty and change, we’ve created a space where you can pause and mindfully engage in the art of making tamales. Together, we will wrap two kinds of tamales, guided by mindfulness practices to help you stay present with your individual process and as a community. Meditation and mindfulness have been integral to both of our journeys. During our time running Mamey, we found a deep connection between these practices and our culinary experiences. This workshop aims to explore the relationship between mindfulness and food, and how they can bring a sense of presence to everyday moments like cooking and eating.
In this workshop, we'll delve into the history of tamales, the process of making masa (dough), and the different leaves used for wrapping. Throughout the session, we’ll incorporate mindful moment activities, inviting you to participate in wrapping tamales. We’ll then fire up the stove to start steaming them. Finally, we'll conclude the workshop by sharing a meal and reflecting on our experience. Our hope is that everyone will have enough tamales to enjoy and take some home.
Join us on Sunday, March 23 (National Tamales Day!) at Manorun Farm from 2 to 5 pm. Tickets are $85.

Farm Crawl Hamilton
Farm Crawl Hamilton is a non-profit organization run by the folks from the original three farms {Manorun, Weir’s Lane, & Lotsa Hostas/Jerry’s Berries}. We've grown to include about 10 farms in the Hamilton area. An event run by farmers to ensure you enjoy a genuine experience. Ticket sales cover the costs of marketing, operating, and managing farm crawl. We look forward to seeing old friends every year and making new ones at this year’s farm crawl!
Farm Crawl is an opportunity to get an inside look at the operations of many of our farms in Hamilton and the surrounding area. You choose which farms to visit and the ordering of the farms. Each farm is family run and your experience is designed by the farm. Please note that several of the farms on the farm crawl maintain regular hours when they are open to the public.
